Today during a cabinet meeting in Lucknow's Shastri Bhawan, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath made a announcement after consulting his various officers that Farm loan of around Rs 30,000 crore to be waived off which in return will help around 2 crore 30 lakhs farmers.  Also new guidelines were made for the benefits of farmers
This was the first cabinet meeting from the time Yogi Adityanath is new CM of UP. This was one of the key election promise made by the BJP. There were also new discussion about the electricity for rural areas and issued new guidelines for slaughterhouses.

Here are five major highlights of the cabinet meeting

The Uttar Pradesh government has decided to waive Rs 30,729 crore in farm loans and Rs 5,630 in non-performing assets. The total amount waived-off is Rs 36,359 crore. Farmers will also be paid for harvests to their bank accounts, via Aadhaar and other facilities.

The Cabinet also discussed about anti-Romeo squads, who are meant to tackle men who harasses women and to create a safer environment for women. The officials are doing great work. However, it guided the police not to harass couples and innocent public who are sitting in public places. Strict actions will be taken against them if found guilty, the government said.

The UP cabinet agreed that all illegal slaughterhouses will be shut, in addition to  the norms set by the Supreme Court and National Green Tribunal. According to the sources around 26 illegal slaughterhouses have been shut down across the state.

The cabinet also discussed about the loans taken by small farmers, which is also written in their manifesto and decided to waive them off.  The loans taken by small and marginal farmers will be waived off.

Officials  said, began working on details of the waiver and who should be  benefited from the waiver will be  decided soon. A cabinet meeting was not held till today to allow that exercise to be completed so it will be completed soon.
