Kapil Dev To Be First Chancellor Of Haryana Sports University

New Delhi:  Former India captain and Cricket legend Kapil Dev has been appointed as the first Chancellor of Haryana Sports University. This was announced by Sports Minister of Haryana Government Anil Vij. Minister announced this to twitter handle, Mr. Dev will be the first Chancellor of Haryana Sports University. 

"Kapil Dev will be the first Chancellor of Haryana Sports University at Rai, Sonepat.” Mr. Vij tweeted.

The name of Kapil Dev, who led the team in 1983 World Cup and won the trophy for the Indian team, was also discussed earlier for the post of the Chancellor of this university. Now the Sports Minister has announced it officially. The 60-year-old former cricketer, born in Chandigarh, the capital of Haryana, is also known as Haryana Hurricane.

Veteran all-rounder Kapil Dev has played 131 Tests and 225 ODIs for the Indian team. Kapil Dev has scored 5248 runs in Tests and 3783 runs in ODIs. At the same time, Kapil Dev has a record of taking 434 wickets in Test cricket and 253 wickets in ODI cricket.
