Interesting Facts About Union Budget 

New Delhi: The newly formed Prime Minister's government 2.0 is all ready to announce it's new budget. Earlier the government had announced an interim budget before the Lok Sabha elections. The budget was announced by Union Minister Piyush Goyal, in the absence of then finance minister, Arun Jaitley. 

Here are a few facts about Union Budget: 

1. The first Union budget of independent India was presented by R. K. Shanmukham Chetty on November 26, 1947.

2. As of September 2017, Morarji Desai has presented 10 budgets which is the highest count followed by P Chidambaram's 9 and Pranab Mukherjee's 8. Yashwant Sinha, Yashwantrao Chavan and C.D. Deshmukh have presented 7 budgets each while Manmohan Singh and T.T. Krishnamachari have presented 6 budgets.

3. The budget has to be passed in both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha before it can be put into effect from April 1

4.Initially the budget used to be presented on the final day of February, until former Finance Minister Arun Jaitley presented the 2017's budget on February 1st.

5. The Union budget is also known as the Annual Financial Statement in the Article 112 of the Constitution of India.
