Happy Birthday King Khan, The Superstar Turns 53

New Delhi: Happy Birthday to the 'KING' of Bollywood. The most loved man in the industry and the self made superstar turns 53. In the career span of almost 26 years the actor has spelled his charm all over the world. Be it romance or drama or villain SRK has done justice with every role and has become everyone's favourite. The "Badshah" of Bollywood has appeared in almost 80 Bollywood films and earned numerous accolades, including 14 Filmfare Awards. In terms of audience size and income, he has been described as one of the most successful film stars in the world.

Started his career in late 1980s with TV serials like,"Circus" and "Fauji" and immediately made a special place in the heart of girls. Shah Rukh made his debut in Bollywood in the year 1992 with movie "Deewana" which was a hit but SRK was recognized by the villainous roles he played in his next movie "Darr" (1993), "Baazigar" (1993) and "Anjaam" 1994. Then came the lover boy with "Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge" (1995), where as "RAJ" King Khan became every girls dream. Thus started the series of romantic movies Dil To Pagal Hai (1997), Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998), Mohabbatein (2000) and Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham... (2001).

He earned critical acclaim for his portrayal of an alcoholic in Devdas (2002), a NASA scientist in Swades (2004), a hockey coach in Chak De! India (2007) and a man with Asperger syndrome in My Name Is Khan (2010). His highest-grossing films include the romantic comedy Chennai Express (2013), the heist comedy Happy New Year (2014), the action film Dilwale (2015), and the crime film Raees (2017).  His character’s morality was certainly questionable but the audience never wanted him to fail.

Shah Rukh shot to immense fame with his characters of Raj and Rahul and while these characters are still adored, the stardom of Shah Rukh is not dependent on these characters anymore. In over 26 years, we have seen the man rise to the peak but we’ve also seen him fall down and through it all, we learnt that one’s success isn’t just measured by the hits and flops they give, it’s about the love that the masses have for them.

For his contributions to film, the Government of India honoured him with the Padma Shri, and the Government of France awarded him both the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres and the Légion d'honneur.

Happy Birthday BADSHAH, may you live a long and healthy life!
