Chinese Passenger Mistakenly Opens Emergency Exit of Plane

New Delhi: In a recent odd episode, a Chinese passenger unlocked the emergency exit of the plane he boarded in hopes of getting fresh air. He decided to open a window as he was feeling too hot and stifled. The wall exit instead collapsed entirely with the emergency slide being unraveled.

The South China Morning Post reports that the 25-year-old man, Chen, informed the police that he really had no idea that the handle and emergency exit were part of the same structure.

"Because it was so stuffy, so hot on the plane, I just pushed down on the window handle beside me. When the door fell out, I panicked," said the passenger. He has been detained for 15 days with an clear fine of 70,000 yen to cover technical costs.

In the past, similar strange events have happened with Chinese passengers. One of them in 2014, panicked and unlocked the emergency exit just as the plane was to takeoff. Another passenger in 2017, a passenger from Shanghai threw coins at the engine of the plane in hopes of good luck.

A Spaniard in January this year, sat on the wing of the plane because they were tired of waiting inside.
