Bangladesh Guards Fire At Bengal Border, One BSF Soldier Killed 

New Delhi: Bangladeshi Border Guards started firing along the India-Bangladesh border in West Bengal due to which a Border Security Force soldier was killed and another was seriously injured. The two were with the petrol team. 

The incident happened at the international border at Bengal's Murshidabad district on Monday. The reports said that the BSF team was on patrol to stop some illegal activity. The second BSF soldier is in a hospital with a bullet injury.

BSF chief VK Johri called up his Bangladesh counterpart Major General Shafeenul Islam over a hotline and told him of the incident, news agency PTI reported.

The agency added that Major General Islam has assured a probe into the incident. 

The martyred soldier is identified as Head Constable Vijay Bhan Singh, who was a resident of Uttar Pradesh's Firozabad.
